Zoro #13 by Nimphradora Zoro #13 by Nimphradora
This took me ages to draw T_T, I've been studying anatomy like crazy and I'm determined to learn how to draw proper humans.
Drawing head took me more time than everything else together. it's so hard to combine anime and realism and not to lose character in the process.
I'm still not happy but I can't spend more time on this.

I know that you are probably tired of Zoros, but since I do a lot of anatomy studies it's more fun for me to draw him than some other random guy.

That looks really awesome. I love how you did the creases on his overcoat and the buttons down!

I think you actually captured Zoro really well in this style. It's realistic but not enough so that you lose the anime style.. Uuh, if that makes sense? I'm no good at explaining xD The muscles are well defined and the clothes look nicely drawn, so are the scabbard. The only thing I'm iffy about is the face, it lacks shading unlike the rest of the picture, but then again you already explained why in the artist comments. P:
Either way awesome job! x]

I agree with your comment, it's exactly why I'm not 100% satisfied with this. Every shadow I add to the face takes something away from "Zoro"
I tried to figure out what to do and I drew 5-6 variations of his head on separate papers, and this "compromise" is best I could do.

Mmhm, I can see what you mean. Though have you tried drawing one with his mouth open? It might of fit this since it looks like the katana is heading for his mouth.
Saying that I don't think it's an easy feat to achieve a realistic picture without losing the anime feathers, but what you've done so far on this drawing turned out great. :)
